Electric marine toilet Sanimarin 43 for your boat: standard height and quiet operation on the bathroom floor
The electric marine toilet Sanimarin 43 is the standard-height toilet in SFA's quiet range, designed for a boat's bathroom. It mounts straight onto the bathroom floor and stands 464 mm high with the seat.
Inside, like the Sanimarin 31, its integrated macerator pump grinds and pumps the sanitary wastewater. The integrated solenoid valve then leaves clean water in the bowl. It also measures 46 dB(A) and weighs 23 kg. According to SFA, its simple, clean lines suit every kind of cabin, from the plainest to the most luxurious.
Before you choose a variant, bear in mind that SFA sells the toilet and the control system separately. With the No control variant you buy the toilet only, so you must add one of SFA's controls (Comfort, Premium or Luxe) from the SFA controls page. If you would rather keep it simple, some variants already include a control. You also choose your boat's voltage.
Benefits of this electric marine toilet Sanimarin 43
- Standard height and direct installation on the bathroom floor.

- Reliability and savings in water and electricity, qualities that SFA highlights across its whole range.
- Its own set of soundproofing foam for this model, and a choice of 12 V or 24 V.
Is it compatible with your boat? What the on-board bathroom needs
SFA does not publish a list of boats or lengths, so compatibility depends on your bathroom meeting a few specific requirements. We start with the space the electric marine toilet Sanimarin 43 takes up and with the electrics. The water, discharge and cable requirements follow after that.
| Requirement | Data |
| Toilet dimensions | Seat width 415 mm, base width 240 mm, total depth 440 mm, base depth 400 mm and total height with the seat 464 mm (±10 mm tolerance on the ceramic dimensions) |
| Mounting | Standard height, on the bathroom floor |
| Power supply | 12 V or 24 V direct current, depending on the variant you choose |
| Wiring | Direct line from the boat's switch panel, dedicated to the toilet and with the polarity observed; a professional carries out the electrical installation |
| Current drawn and fuse | 25 A at 12 V or 15 A at 24 V, for both the current drawn and the fuse |
| Maximum voltage drop | 5% (0.6 V at 12 V and 1.2 V at 24 V) |
As for the controls, the 43 accepts the Premium push button mounted straight on the bowl, with a Ø 32 mm hole, because SFA only rules it out on the Sanimarin 31. However, Comfort and Luxe have their own mounting dimensions, as you will see below.
Water and discharge on board: electric marine toilet Sanimarin 43
Next comes the water circuit, which also affects compatibility. SFA asks for a vented loop and accessible through-hull valves. For boats built from 2008 onwards, it also asks for a black water tank.
| Requirement | Data |
| Water inlet | Pressurised on-board fresh water, using the integrated solenoid valve, or sea water with an optional auxiliary pump; minimum dynamic pressure of 1.7 bar and recommended auxiliary pump flow rate of 11 L/min |
| Discharge | Up to 3 m vertically and 30 m horizontally, with a 38 mm or 25 mm outlet |
| Vented loop | Between the pump and the bowl, always 50 cm or more above the waterline (not included) |
| Unit below the waterline | The pipe rises at least 50 cm above it, with an anti-siphon valve at the highest point and a fall towards the 3-way valve |
| Through-hull valves | Accessible or, failing that, full-flow marine valves; the sea water intake kept away from the black water through-hull fitting |
| Black water tank | Compulsory, according to SFA's manual, on vessels built from 2008 onwards; check the legislation on discharge into the sea |
So before you choose a variant, work out how high the toilet sits above the waterline and what water pressure you have.
Power cable: cross-section and maximum length
Choose the power cable according to the real distance to the panel, since 5% is the voltage drop limit. SFA gives the maximum length for each cross-section and voltage.
| Cable cross-section | Maximum length at 12 V | Maximum length at 24 V |
| 1.5 mm² | 1 m | 3.5 m |
| 2.5 mm² | 2 m | 6 m |
| 4 mm² | 3 m | 9.5 m |
| 6 mm² | 4.3 m | 14 m |
As you can see, at 24 V the cable reaches further with the same cross-section. So if your panel is far from the bathroom, this table tells you which cross-section you need.

Which control to choose for this electric marine toilet Sanimarin 43
New for 2026, SFA sells the system that controls the toilet separately and offers it in three versions: Comfort (2-position switch), Premium (electronic push button) and Luxe (electronic keypad). So the No control variant means you must choose one of them separately. The table compares how they are used and mounted.
| Control | How it works | Mounting details |
| Comfort | 2-position switch with no electronics: ADD WATER to rinse and PUMP OUT to macerate and pump; you decide how long each cycle lasts | Ø 50 mm hole; wired with a terminal block, with no electronic control box |
| Premium | Electronic push button with 2 automatic cycles; a long press empties the bowl (dry bowl), and an indicator warns that the black water tank is full | Can be mounted directly on the bowl of the 43, with a Ø 32 mm hole; connects to SFA's electronic control box |
| Luxe white or black | Optical glass keypad, white or black, scratch-resistant and water-repellent, with a silicone cover and 2 automatic cycles; it lets you programme the cycles, adjust the backlight, choose the standby colour and switch the beeps on, and it uses little power | 88 × 48 mm cut-out for a 120 × 84 mm panel, no more than 1.50 m from the current electronic control box, with which it is compatible |
| SFA electronic control box | Premium and Luxe connect to it; the Comfort does not use it | 105 × 78 × 43 mm, in a dry, protected place |
Which controls need the electronic control box
Note that Premium and Luxe only work when connected to SFA's electronic control box, whereas the Comfort does not need it. If you want to confirm what your order includes, write to us before you buy.
In other words, on the 43 you can choose any of the three, depending on how you want to operate the toilet. If you want more information, the controls page with all the details expands on what is only summarised here.
How this electric marine toilet Sanimarin 43 works and how much power it uses
On each flush, this electric marine toilet Sanimarin 43 leaves clean water in the bowl thanks to its solenoid valve. The pump, with a stainless steel turbine, then macerates the wastewater and sends it to the discharge. SFA points out that its only job is to macerate and pump.
With Comfort you control the water. With Premium or Luxe, the NORMAL flush runs from 2 to 3.4 L and the ECO flush from 1.6 to 2.2 L according to the manual, so the total range is 1.6 to 3.4 L.
Because SFA gives the power consumption in ampere-hours, it is easy to work out how long your battery will last. With Comfort, every second of running counts. With Premium or Luxe, every cycle counts.
| Situation | At 12 V | At 24 V |
| Comfort, per second of running | 0.007 Ah | 0.004 Ah |
| Premium or Luxe, ECO cycle | 0.056 Ah | 0.032 Ah |
| Premium or Luxe, NORMAL cycle | 0.105 Ah | 0.060 Ah |
For reference, SFA's website puts the Sanimarin's electricity use for 4 people in standard everyday use at less than 1% of energy consumption.
How to use it day to day
The toilet takes only faecal matter and toilet paper, because cotton wool, tampons, sanitary towels, condoms, hair, solvents and oils damage it and void the warranty.
With Comfort, rinse to half a bowl, empty and rinse again so that water stays in the bottom. With Premium, the large NORMAL flush is at the top and the small ECO one below. If you hold NORMAL down, you empty the bowl. In addition, the fill is programmable, and the push button remembers your setting.
The Luxe keypad has three backlit keys (NORMAL, ECO and empty). Its settings mode also lets you change the beeps, the colour, the backlight and the fill.
If the sea is rough, leave the bowl empty: the empty function on Premium and Luxe allows it and, with Comfort, you just hold PUMP OUT. With a nearly full tank, the Premium TANK indicator flashes red when 3 flushes remain. It turns solid red, with a lock-out, when the tank fills. Luxe shows it with a “Tank Full” message, a red light and beeps.
If you will be away for a long time or the power fails, turn off the water and the electricity. Note also that the high-level sensor needed for that indicator does not come with the toilet.
Installing and fitting this electric marine toilet Sanimarin 43
This electric marine toilet Sanimarin 43 mounts on the bathroom floor, and safety comes first. Switch off the power and close the through-hull valves before you touch anything.
Then mark the outline of the base, position the 2 brackets 15 mm away, drill and screw them in without tightening fully. Next, fit the foam and the soundproofing foam supplied. The bowl is fixed to the brackets last, with all the connections made and a maximum torque of 1.5 N·m.
Meanwhile, get the vented loop ready (50 cm or more above the waterline), the accessible through-hull valves and, on boats from 2008 onwards, the black water tank. Also run the electrical cable in a direct line from the panel, with a 25 A fuse at 12 V or 15 A at 24 V and the cross-section given in the table.
When you commission it with Comfort, fill the bowl halfway with ADD WATER (about 6 seconds) and add paper. Then empty with PUMP OUT for roughly another 6 seconds and rinse again with ADD WATER for about 4 seconds. With Premium or Luxe, however, a NORMAL cycle followed by an ECO cycle with paper is enough. Finally, check that there are no leaks.
What is in the box and the accessories you need
According to the parts drawing in SFA's manual, this electric marine toilet Sanimarin 43 comes with the following:
- 3 clamps 32x55

Who is it for?
This electric marine toilet Sanimarin 43 is for anyone with room for a floor-level toilet who also wants a model from SFA's quiet range. SFA aims to bring the same comfort of use to the sea as on land. These are the most common profiles, as long as your boat meets the installation requirements:
- Owners of sailing boats and leisure boats with a floor-level bathroom.
- Owners of motor boats who are refitting the on-board toilet compartment.
- Anyone who puts quiet first: at 46 dB(A), it is quieter than the Sanimarin 31, at 52 dB(A).
- Anyone replacing a manual-pump toilet with an electric model, which SFA calls easy.
- Anyone who wants the Premium push button fitted on the bowl itself.
- Anyone refitting a fishing boat who wants a toilet with simple lines on board.
Maintenance, warranty and safety
For maintenance, you can clean this electric marine toilet Sanimarin 43 with standard sanitary products. For winter lay-up, SFA says to run a batch of cycles with clean water, empty the bowl and close the through-hull valves.
SFA's Spanish-language manual sets the warranty at two years, or 3 years in Spain. During the first 6 months it also covers carriage, packaging and call-out costs. On safety, the manual says that use by children over 8 or by people with reduced capabilities needs supervision.
Meanwhile, for the grey water from the shower, washbasin or sink there is the Sanimarin Pump Up grey water pump, a separate product in the same range.
Frequently asked questions
How does the electric marine toilet Sanimarin 43 work with its macerator?
On each flush, the integrated solenoid valve leaves the bowl with clean water. The macerator pump then grinds what is in it and pumps it through the discharge, up to 3 m vertically or 30 m horizontally. In addition, this electric marine toilet Sanimarin 43 is operated with the control you choose.
What is the difference between the Sanimarin 43 and the Sanimarin 31?
They share almost all their technical data. The 43 is standard height, mounts on the floor, weighs 23 kg and measures 46 dB(A). The 31 is reduced height, mounts on a raised step, weighs 17 kg and measures 52 dB(A). Also, of the two, only the 43 takes the Premium mounted on the bowl.
Which control should I choose for the Sanimarin 43: Comfort, Premium or Luxe?
It depends on how you want to operate it. If you want simplicity, Comfort is a switch with no electronics; Premium is a push button with 2 cycles and Luxe is a keypad with settings. If you choose the No control variant, you will have to buy one of the three separately, because one of them controls how the toilet works.
Do I need a black water tank on my boat?
As SFA's manual states, vessels built from 2008 onwards must have a black water tank. With the electric marine toilet Sanimarin 43, you should also check the vented loop, the accessible through-hull valves and the legislation on discharge into the sea.
How much battery does it use and what fuse do I need?
With Comfort it is measured per second: 0.007 Ah at 12 V and 0.004 Ah at 24 V. With Premium or Luxe it is measured per cycle: ECO, 0.056 Ah and 0.032 Ah; NORMAL, 0.105 Ah and 0.060 Ah, at 12 V and 24 V respectively. The electric marine toilet Sanimarin 43 also needs a 25 A fuse at 12 V and a 15 A fuse at 24 V.
