Marine toilet control Sanimarin for your boat: Comfort switch, Premium push button or Luxe keypad

The marine toilet control Sanimarin is the system that controls SFA's electric toilet on board a boat. Since 2026, SFA has sold the toilet and the control separately. You first choose the toilet model and its voltage, 12 V or 24 V. Then you choose the control system.

According to SFA's manual, the Sanimarin is operated by a 2-position switch (Comfort version), an electronic push button (Premium version) or an electronic keypad (Luxe version). So on this page you choose between Comfort, Premium, Luxe white, Luxe black and classic Luxe.

Here you will also find what you need to decide: what each control does, the hole or cut-out it needs, how much battery it uses and which Sanimarin toilets it goes with. That way you can pick the marine toilet control Sanimarin that suits your on-board bathroom.

Benefits of the marine toilet control Sanimarin

  • There are three types of control to choose from: the Comfort switch, the Premium push button and the Luxe keypads.
  • The Comfort has no electronics and is wired with a terminal block, with no electronic control box.
  • With the Comfort, you control how long each cycle lasts.
  • The Premium offers two automatic cycles, NORMAL and ECO, with an adjustable water level from 1.6 to 3.4 L.
  • A long press on the Premium's large flush button also leaves the bowl dry.
  • Premium and Luxe also have an indicator light that warns when the black water tank is full.
  • The new Luxe keypad has a glass front, white or black, with a scratch-resistant and water-repellent treatment.
  • With the new Luxe you can programme the macerating cycles, adjust the backlight and choose the standby colour.
  • In rough seas, both the Premium and the Luxe keypads also let you empty the bowl.
  • Finally, the classic Luxe offers the Luxe functions in the earlier keypad design, in white.

Is it compatible with your boat?

Before choosing, check which toilet you will use the marine toilet control Sanimarin with and what each system needs. For that reason, the table gives what SFA publishes on compatibility and the electrical connection.

RequirementSFA data
Toilets offering a choice of controlAll five controls appear as a “control system” to choose on the Sanimarin toilet pages of the SFA 2026 catalogue, including the 31 and the 43.
Premium on the bowlIt can be installed directly on the bowl, except on the Sanimarin 31.
ComfortSwitch with no electronics: it does not use an electronic control box and is wired with a terminal block.
Premium and LuxeThey connect to SFA's electronic control box for the Premium and Luxe systems. The new Luxe keypad is compatible with the current electronic control box; SFA does not detail the connection of the classic Luxe.
Full-tank warningPremium and Luxe need the black water tank high-level sensor, which is not supplied.

As you can see, there is only one exception: the Premium does not mount on the bowl of the Sanimarin 31. To see the toilets, visit the page for the electric marine toilet Sanimarin 31 or the electric marine toilet Sanimarin 43. Also, if you need other parts for the toilet, see the toilet spares and kits collection.

Choose your marine toilet control Sanimarin: Comfort, Premium or Luxe

Each control changes how you use the toilet, the hole you need and the electronics you connect. So it is worth comparing them. Below you will find a section for each control with its functions, so you can compare at your own pace.

Comfort control for the marine toilet Sanimarin: 2-position switch

The Comfort (SN-SWITCH1) is a 2-position electric switch with no electronics. One position rinses (ADD WATER) and the other macerates and pumps (PUMP OUT). In addition, the user controls how long each cycle lasts and adapts it to their needs.

Holding the switch at PUMP OUT empties the bowl. Also, with this control the user decides how much water the toilet uses.

Premium control for the marine toilet Sanimarin: electronic push button

The Premium (SN-SWITCH2) is an electronic push button with two automatic cycles, NORMAL and ECO. Its water level is adjustable from 1.6 to 3.4 L. In addition, a long press on the large flush leaves the bowl dry.

It also has an indicator light for a full black water tank and a programmable fill, which it remembers. The TANK warning also flashes red when 3 flushes remain. It stays solid red, with a lock-out, when the tank is full.

Luxe white and Luxe black: the new optical keypad

The new Luxe optical keypad (SN-SWITCH3 in white and SN-SWITCH4 in black) offers two automatic cycles with an adjustable water level from 1.6 to 3.4 L. It also empties the bowl in rough seas. It has the “Tank Full” indicator light for a full black water tank.

Its new features include a glass front, white or black, that is scratch-resistant and water-repellent, and a protective silicone cover. In addition, it lets you programme the macerating cycles. You can also choose the standby or off colour and switch the flush beeps on or off.

The NORMAL, ECO and empty keys are backlit, with adjustable intensity, or can be switched off. The keypad also has low power consumption. Its settings menu has four options:

  • A: initial fill menu.
  • B: backlight.
  • C: colour, which can be white, bright white, cyan, bright cyan, blue or bright blue.
  • D: beeps, which can be no beep, low or high.

Classic Luxe (SN-SWITCH5): the earlier Luxe keypad design

The classic Luxe (SN-SWITCH5) is the electronic Luxe keypad in the design that came before the new optical keypad, in white. It offers the Luxe functions: two automatic cycles from 1.6 to 3.4 L, bowl emptying in rough seas and the “Tank Full” indicator light. So choose it if you want those functions in the earlier design.

How the marine toilet control Sanimarin works and how much power it uses

With the Comfort, the user decides how much water the toilet uses. With Premium and Luxe, however, the water level is adjustable from 1.6 to 3.4 L across two automatic cycles. In addition, the electricity the toilet uses depends on the control, as the Ah table shows.

Control and cycleAt 12 VAt 24 V
Comfort, per second of running0.007 Ah0.004 Ah
Premium and Luxe, ECO cycle0.056 Ah0.032 Ah
Premium and Luxe, NORMAL cycle0.105 Ah0.060 Ah

With the Comfort, consumption is measured per second. So it depends on how long you hold the switch in a position. With Premium and Luxe, however, it is measured per cycle. As a result, the marine toilet control Sanimarin you choose affects your boat's battery use.

Installing and fitting each control

The mounting changes with the marine toilet control Sanimarin you choose, so check the space available before you decide. For that reason, the table gives the hole or cut-out, the connection and the dimensions that SFA publishes.

ControlMounting and connectionDimensions
ComfortSimplified installation: Ø 50 mm hole made with a hole saw94 × 62 mm (front)
PremiumØ 32 mm hole; CONTROL BUTTON terminal on the electronic control boxØ 40 mm front; 35 mm deep; Ø 30 mm body
Luxe white and Luxe black88 × 48 mm cut-out; 8 countersunk screws, 3 mm at most; no more than 1.50 m from the electronic control box, without blocking the lid from opening; CONTROL PANEL terminal on that box120 × 84 mm; 13 mm visible thickness; 47 mm body

The dimensions and cut-out in the table are for the new Luxe keypad, white or black. They do not apply to the classic Luxe. In addition, according to SFA, the new keypad switches off if an opaque object covers it.

Electronic control box and full-tank warning

Each Premium or Luxe marine toilet control Sanimarin connects to SFA's electronic control box for those systems. The box measures 105 × 78 × 43 mm. Specifically, it has terminals for the macerator, solenoid valve, power supply, optional sea water pump (8 A max.), full-tank warning and control.

Important: without that box, the Premium and the Luxe cannot work. So keep it in mind when you choose your control. If you have any doubt about what your order includes, ask us before you buy.

In addition, the box is installed in a dry, protected place. Meanwhile, the black water tank high-level sensor is not supplied. It is needed for the full-tank warning on Premium and Luxe.

Who is each control for?

The marine toilet control Sanimarin you choose depends on how you use the bathroom and on the room you have. So these are the profiles each system suits.

  • Anyone who prefers a control with no electronics and simplified installation: the Comfort switch.
  • Anyone who wants automatic cycles and a dry bowl: the Premium push button.
  • Anyone looking for a keypad with backlight, standby colour and configurable beeps: the new Luxe, white or black.
  • Anyone who prefers the earlier design of the Luxe keypad: the classic Luxe.
  • Anyone fitting a Sanimarin 31 who puts the Premium away from the bowl but within easy reach of it.
  • Anyone buying a Sanimarin 31 or 43 who has to choose the control system, which SFA sells separately.

Frequently asked questions

Which marine toilet control Sanimarin should I choose: Comfort, Premium or Luxe?

It depends on how you want to use the toilet. The Comfort is a switch with no electronics. The Premium is a push button with two automatic cycles and bowl emptying. The Luxe is a keypad with those same functions, and the new Luxe adds programming, backlight, colour and beeps. So the ideal marine toilet control Sanimarin is the one that suits your space and the control you prefer.

Can I fit the Premium control on the bowl of the Sanimarin 31?

No, because SFA says the Premium can be installed directly on the bowl, except on the Sanimarin 31. So on that toilet the Premium does not go on the bowl. The manual asks you to fit it within easy reach of the bowl.

What is the difference between the new Luxe and the classic Luxe?

They are two different keypads. The new optical keypad has a glass front, a silicone cover, cycle programming, backlight and adjustable beeps, and it comes in white or black. The classic Luxe, however, is the Luxe keypad in the earlier design, in white, with the Luxe functions.

Which controls need an electronic control box?

It depends on the marine toilet control Sanimarin you choose. The Comfort does not use it and is wired with a terminal block. Premium and Luxe connect to SFA's electronic control box for those systems, measuring 105 × 78 × 43 mm. Also, the full-tank warning needs a high-level sensor that is not supplied.

How much battery does each control use?

It depends on the marine toilet control Sanimarin you choose. With the Comfort, the toilet uses 0.007 Ah per second at 12 V and 0.004 Ah at 24 V. With Premium or Luxe, however, each ECO cycle uses 0.056 Ah at 12 V and 0.032 Ah at 24 V. Each NORMAL cycle uses 0.105 Ah and 0.060 Ah.
